12 Most Prolific Bloggers I Read Daily

12 Most Prolific Bloggers I Read Daily

About six months ago when I really started to get involved in Twitter and the blogosphere, I found that quality information was pretty hard to come by. As I started blogging myself, I started to understand why that was. I’ve been pretty inconsistent with my personal blog. A big part of the problem (at least for me) is I don’t view myself as a good writer, and I don’t necessarily enjoy the creative process of writing. But I do value the interaction that comes from building great relationships online and I find a blog to be an integral building block of that relationship building process.

Even though I struggled at first, over time, I developed a list of go-to bloggers; people who consistently post high quality blog posts about topics I care about – digital marketing, seo, social media, sales, and blogging. I thought I’d share this list with you, not just because they are prolific in their output, but because the combine prodigious quantity with outstanding quality of work! If you’re not following them on twitter, or reading their blogs, you owe it to yourself to check them out.

1. Lee Odden

There are few blogs I read today that I read 5+ years ago. Top Rank Blog is at the very top of that list. Lee Odden and his crew have been consistently adding valuable information to the discussion about SEO and Social Media for a very long time. Top Rank, for my money, is the standard bearer in the industry. There may be other blogs that go deeper into a specific area, but in terms of coverage and thought leadership, this blog is terrific.

2. Gini Dietrich

Everyone that knows me knows I am in the midst of a mad, passionate love affair with Gini Dietrich – on the professional bro-mance level, that is. I love what she’s doing at her blog Spin Sucks and I love the way she’s doing it. Very, very few bloggers in this space have created and cultivated a stronger sense of community than Gini has. I could go on and on about Gini, but then she’d just be confused and think I was kidnapped or something. She’s not used to me being nice to her, and I wouldn’t want her head to get any bigger than it already is….

3. Sam Fiorella

Is there a harder worker in the social sphere that Sam Fiorella? Sam consistently writes some of the very best commentary on the social web. He also delivered over 200 keynote speeches in the last two years.

4. Mark W. Schaefer

Mark’s blog definitely rivals Gini in his cultivation of a community. The comments on his blogs are just as important as the deep thinking he produces with every post. Diligent, thoughtful and professional are words I’d use to describe Mark’s blog. Required reading in the social media space.

5. Valeria Maltoni

At Conversation Agent Valeria writes every few days, and I’m thankful that she does. She’s smart, diligent, and insightful. Somehow, she manages to find fresh takes on the issues of the day, and then writes beautifully about them.

6. Mitch Joel

I love Mitch’s Twist Image blog. It consistently delivers high quality posts without taking itself or the space too seriously. Mitch consistently injects a depth of thought and a personality into his posts and interactions online that make his voice unique.

7. Anthony Iannarino

I met Anthony Iannarino at this year’s SOBCon in Chicago. We had a 4+ hour lunch together with Lisa Petrilli and Steve Woodruff, and I had the pleasure of hearing Anthony discuss his philosophy about work life balance (what balance?) and a little bit about his work ethic (let’s just say he’s written his first post before most of you have even gotten out of bed). Even though I’m no longer in sales, I learn from his blog regularly. You could too.

8. Marcus Sheridan

Marcus has taken the blogosphere by storm. Not only does he write incredibly great stuff at his blog The Sales Lion, but he comments more regularly and more effectively than nearly anyone I know. Earlier this year I made a commitment to write 5 different comments a day on other blogs. I had Marcus in mind when I made that public commitment. He’s a great role model for me (and you) in that regard.

9. Jay Baer

Jay’s blog Convince and Convert is another stellar example of what a great mix of design and content can do. The layout is beautiful – and exemplifies what I wish so many other blogs could be if they only spent some time thinking through layout. But the knowledge….oh, the knowledge. Jay brings it with every single post.

10. Heidi Cohen

Heidi Cohen is prolific. I met her on Twitter and there is a lot to like in her blog. I love the clean layout, the simple design, the elegant use of white space, and she is a blogging maniac. Few people cover the things I love, like blogging, seo, and pr quite as prolifically as Heidi does.

11. Margie Clayman

Prolific doesn’t quite describe Margie Clayman. She writes for her blog. She guest posts at several others. She is seemingly everywhere! Makes me wonder how in the world she has time to actually satisfy clients, even though I’m sure she does that beautifully too!

12. Dino Dogan

At his blog DIY Blogger Dino utilizes smarts, humor and (at times) controversy to get his point across. I learn something darn near every time I visit! What’s not to like?

So there you have it. The 12 most profilic bloggers who rock my world. What about you? Who would you add to this list? Who rocks your world with a combination of quantity and quality? Who raises the bar in your industry or vertical? Who sets the standard you shoot for? Share with us in the comments below!

@deleted_91832_Sean McGinnis I forgot to leave a comment about something else you said in your post.

A big part of the problem (at least for me) is I don’t view myself as a good writer, and I don’t necessarily enjoy the creative process of writing.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is not writing because they don't think that they are good enough. It is a blog post, not a treaty. Just write. The quality is usually better than we think it is.

@deleted_91832_Sean McGinnis If you can tell a story you can write. Beginning, middle and end. Add a few details and boom you are done. I am biased because I love to write.

Thanks very much Sean. Terrific list, and I totally agree about Gini and Mark re: community-building. Amazing what they've built. Honored to be among these folks, almost all of whom I read regularly too.

Another great list, Sean. I have to agree with TheJackB--I have more blogs to read than time to read them! And anytime I take a "quick break" to read Gini's blog I end up getting sucked in because there is always such stimulating conversation over there. I've been so busy with projects, I haven't been keeping up on all my favorite blogs as faithfully as I use to. So now, thanks to seeing Gini's tweet, I find myself lured into adding The 12 Most, 312 Digital and the others on this list that I don't currently follow. Big Sigh. Great. ;-)

Great list Sean -- Glad you included Gini ! But you definitely missed one: Gabriella Sannino (@SEOCopy), whose home is http://level343.com, guest blogs so extensively, in both English and Italian, that she's hard to keep track of :)

@deleted_91832_Sean McGinnis @danielnewmanUV SEAN! You're supposed to be helping me drive traffic, not deter. Jeez. Just for that, I'm not going to subscribe to your new blog or thank you for listing me with that @leeodden guy.

Sean,

Wow! I feel a little funny to say so, but other than yourself, Dino, Gini and Marcus Sheridan, I hadn't come across the other folks until your list! I can't wait to go see and learn even more, so thanks.

I know that you know exactly what I mean by this when I say that I can't, today, after begining on this journey in February of this year, even begin to imagine my life being as full and meaningful without these folks in it.

I learn so much everyday and I consider at least half of the folks I have found searching and by the grace of Twitter, my friends. My abilities are increasing, my understanding and I am surrounded by humans that care about me, each other and this internet world.

Thanks.

I can say happily that several of these people are close personal friends of mine. I happen to love several people on this list. A few of them I have even met in person.I had the pleasure of meeting Gini and Marcus at BlogWorld, but I met Mark before that and had the chance to have lunch with him. Such a true gentleman.

Margie Clayman is literally everywhere isn't she? I have no idea how she does it. She was the first female that I made friends with on Twitter, and every single day I learn something else from her.

I have written blog posts about Gine, not that she cares! *cires* I even posed in a tracksuit for her!

Mitch Joel is one of the smartest people ever. I read his blog, and I feel smarter.

Well blow me down Sean!!! Talk about diggin this company----Yeeehawwwww ;-)

Like you, I love @leeodden . I met him at BWENY and left as impressed with him as anyone there. He is so kind, humble, and is willing to talk to anyone....and his content rocks.

There are many others on this list I haven't caught up with, so I'm stoked to check'em out considering you give them the thumbs up Sean.

Oh, and about that @ginidietrich ....what a freakin awesome gal and blog, huh??

Love your banter with her btw Sean, always makes me laugh man. :)

Cheers,

Marcus
