The web is a social entanglement full of fantastic places to engage and connect. Humans are surely social beings and this post is a menagerie of social communities will enhance your relationships on the information superhighway. If you haven’t updated your social media diet lately, here are a few of my favorites to nourish your relationships and get a big healthy serving of savvy social goodness.
1. Google +
Launched on June 28, 2011, Google + is the newest, most talked about social site which The New York Times declared Google’s biggest attempt to rival the social network Facebook. Features include circles, hangouts, sparks and huddles. It will be interesting to see if the buzz matches the interest in the long run.
2. Twitter
Twitter is the absolute #1 micro blogging platform. Amazing chats, global networking, and thought sharing with the best of the best makes this one a fantastic choice.
3. Twylah
While the name might not describe its awesome features, it transforms your tweets into a custom page that is utterly beyond words. Showcasing your trending topics to provide engagement, value and brand building, it allows you to reach your audience outside of twitter.
4. Pinterest
A virtual pin board to where you create collections of things you love and you can “follow” the collections of others with great taste. I receive traffic to my own blog each day from items others have “pinned”. Addictive to say the least!
5. Skype
This video calling service allows you to connect to others anywhere, also has instant messaging and plain old voice calling. Group video is now available too!
6. Linked In
Keep that resume updated on this business related professional networking site. Linked In is THE way to engage and begin relationships to locate jobs, experienced people and business opportunities while keeping in touch with former colleagues.
7. Meet Up
Jump on over to Meetup.com to plan or find out about offline meetings in your area. It is a noteworthy place to find people with interests to match your own should you decide to tear yourself away from your computer.
8. Stumble Upon
Helps you discover the best of the web and recommends great websites handpicked by your friends and like-minded people. There is a toolbar available from this site that makes “stumbling” remarkable articles super easy. It astounds me the traffic that can be generated to your own blog by this bookmarking tool. Do your blogger friends a favor and “stumble” them!
9. Reverb Nation
Described as a social network for musicians and bands, it is an excellent venue to discover music and listen to musical magnificence. Different and enlightening it is a must visit.
10. Delicious
The biggest collection of bookmarks in the universe that you can share with your friends and access from any computer with just a simple login, definitely one worth a daily check-in.
11. Flickr
A photo sharing photography community where images can be hosted and easily embedded elsewhere on the web. With over 5 billion hosted images, you may be here for a while.
12. Facebook
Facebook is a community of over 750 million users as of July 2011, with new features recently added. I find it the best place to keep up with close friends and family.
Today, these are some of the best place to connect and share. Who knows what new ideas and communities tomorrow will bring? Do you have a favorite social site? What would you like to see added to the list? What concerns you about sharing among numerous sites?

Michelle, I've hear a lot of great stuff about TWYLA but don't understand it's purpose. Do you go there daily? And if so, why? Do you visit other people's TWYLA pages? Again, if so why? I have thought about signing up, but want to know what benefit it would be to me as a tweeter or blogger. Thanks!!!
@MimiBakerMN First thanks taking time to read my post! Super appreciate that!! Next, the best thing about Twylah is that it lets your tweets live on for longer than just the few seconds that it may fly by on twitter. Also, it lets you connect with people outside of twitter, which by the way is a huge audience. Furthermore, Twylah is all about you, unlike some of those other sites which display collections of tweets. I especially like all my tweets in one place so I can go back and look at chats Ive participated in. Lastly, there is nothing extra to do, no wondering what s being posted and its an all around Fab tool to have if you are looking to increase your brands visibility. I have only scratched the surface here, as a blogger, Twylah is a must have!!
Hello!
Twylah is a twitter fan page with more information than your regular Twitter profile. It sorts your tweets by categories and is a great place for someone to get to know you. You can also tweet from your Twylah page. I do go to my page as well as my friends pages. Very fun!
Thanks
Peggy

@thedomesticexec Welcome! Thank YOU. I didn't know you posted at @12most. I like what they're doing (you, too, of course :)
@seanmcginnis we like to be social AWAY from our desks! Running around the streets like madmen!
MeShell!!!!
look at you being all techie social! Love it! And had never heard of Pinterest before!!!! (I knew I should have only gotten 4 hours of sleep last Thursday) And you have it in about the right order if I were to prioritize. Yes, Google Plus would be #1, if for no other reasons than hangout and circles. Facebook would be 12 and @LewisPoretz 's MySpace for his band #13 (we did declare that over the line, right?)
The #1 tool that you mention, which I'd love to see a Google Plus of implementation of as well? Http://Twylah.com/thedomesticexec <<-- Michelle Kay's and hi to @twylah everyone wave to Kelly Kim and tell her how Fab Michelle's page is!!!!
great job Ms. #Boom -- looking forward to your future posts!
@Josepf Thanks Josepf!! You rock my friend!! I will have to check out@LewisPoretz myspace band lol. Yes @twylah definitely is pure awesomeness and thanks again for sharing my link! I am in love with it. I am so grateful for Kelly and her whole team. I am sure they have great things in the works for all of us.
@Josepf Thank you, Josepf! G+ implementation already?! Great idea. We'll get on it. May take a few weeks. ;-)
@Twylah I want to sincerely thank you Kelly for your extreme fabulosity!! I have had so many RT's from my twylah page, it astounds me. Amazing to say the least! :-)
Good list MIchelle - I still find it odd that we look at our computers and how to "not leave our desk" to "be social'. I'm active in "online social engagement" but not sure how I feel about it.
@samfiorella That is understandable Sam, but since I work from my home office it is such a pleasure to connect with colleagues while I am also completing the daily must do list. Also, I cant count how many times a social connection has given me help on a problem or saved the day when I really needed it. Thank you for your thoughtful comment and I am glad you still find it important to connect face to face.
Hello Michelle~
Love this list of social activities! I am totally interested in Pinterest and can't wait to check it out. Welcome to the 12 Most Family. Look forward to more posts from you!!
@PegFitzpatrick @pinterest is so amazing! Thanks so much for the warm welcome Peggy! I am having a blast!! Talk soon!!
OK, I seriously want to know how a business uses Google+. Currently I represent Verseo.com as their Social Media rep which means managing their Twitter account, FaceBook Fan page, blogging, now just added Pinterest and we'll start adding product photos to Flickr. But I haven't been able to figure out if Google+ we should use like we have our FaceBook Fan page or just use it within the site to have people "+1" our products. Seems like Google+ is more for just people and less for businesses to have customers socialize with them or find new potential customers. Thoughts?
@marybeauty I am really new to Google Plus but @ginidietrich 's post has some fantastic points covered in her article here--> 10 Things to Consider As You Move to Google+ | Spin Sucks http://bit.ly/ify6KE Check it out and let me know if you agree! Thanks so much for taking time to stop by!
@thedomesticexec @marybeauty First, thanks for the link love! Secondly, I'm not sure about the business applications yet, either. I can tell you it's driving some serious traffic to our content. So, if you have content for Varseo, think about it as a tool to drive engagement. It's DEFINITELY a place where you can socialize with potential customers. It's very Twitter-like in that way.
@ginidietrich @marybeauty Great advice Gini ! Thanks so much for your imput!! #Gratitude #Respect
@ginidietrich @ginidietrich Gini - please visit your Twitter DM account for an important message.
@danielnewmanUV ONLY if they don't start making some money. I actually think G+ is going to kill email.
@ginidietrich @marybeauty @thedomesticexec Gini - did you just prognosticate that Twitter will be replaced by Google+? You heard it first here people.
What a bold yet interesting yet provocative yet entirely possible prediction.... GUMBY
@ginidietrich @thedomesticexec
Again, thank you for advice. Very much appreciated. Will follow this route.
@deleted_91832_Sean McGinnis @ginidietrich @thedomesticexec
Good to know! See, the commoners are confused...:-)
@marybeauty @thedomesticexec It's waaaaay too early to tell, but this is our strategy (and we're a small company too): Use G+, understand it, build circles, and see where it goes in the next 45-60 days. Of course, the search there is going to be phenomenal. We've already noticed some pretty interesting search implications when you're signed into Google and when you're not signed in.
My guess is that, unless Twitter monetizes soon, G+ will replace it.
@ginidietrich @thedomesticexec @marybeauty
Loving the link (and site!). Holy crap, this is starting to become a real job, damnit ;-)... One last thing would like your comments on, so if Google & Twitter broke their contract to no longer include Twitter feeds in search results (one of the 1st reasons we got into Twitter for Verseo was to help with SEO), and though I'm not proposing that i'll do this, I can see a time when I'm not able to keep up with so many outlets and will need to focus so will Twitter+Facebook win or just hop on over to Google+? I know, too early to tell but it does have me thinking. We're not a big company at all. Can't hire the social media 'team'....hmmmm
Michelle - great 12 most collection you put together. I often wonder at what number does a person move to the other side of insanity?
@LewisPoretz Thanks for stopping by Lewis! I believe that 13 is what throws you right over the edge, lol .
@thedomesticexec I also seriously want to know how you think business should use Google+ . Can't figure out if it's just one too many?
@thedomesticexec Must follow your boards, do share your handle (what do you call it on Pinterest? Boards?)! Mine -> http://bit.ly/lzJmcp
@thedomesticexec Found ya, following back (Pinterest) thanks! I'll never get work done now...sigh...
@marybeauty Followed all your Boards Mary!! Glad to join u on @pinterest ! xoxo
