Following up to our previous People’s Choice poll last week, 12 Most Very Favorite Posts of 2011, this one is a list of the top 12 Most posts in 2011 according to Google Analytics. Congratulations to all the writers who claimed top spots for 2011. We like what you have to say and our eyes like to find their way to your posts. After all, the numbers prove it!

Interesting though… if you cross-reference this list with the one selected by the people, there is little parity between the two. Some writers overlap, such as Sam Fiorella and Angela Maiers, but the posts are different. What do you make of this? Are there any posts here that were your favorites on 12 Most last year?

Please let us know what you think in the comments below.

So, I thought to myself, you should review this list. It will give you a good idea of what is really popular with the 12most community.

After reading the list, I am left scratching my head. Other than the fact the a few "power hitters" in the world of Social Media are obviously good at promoting their content, I can't find any real consistent threads. Some of these are action/change oriented, others are simply fun. Some are business oriented, and others are personal.

Oh well, I guess I will just keep hacking away at the keyboard.

@jpJeremy just have a cocktail and relax.. It's not just about social media. It's about taste!

@jpJeremy I think 12 Most has been blessed by the "power hitters" who write for us and share our content — this is the beauty of social media and 12 Most. More established folks as well as brand new people writing for us add to the flavor and weaves together a diversity that is unparalleled. This brings more visibility to 12 Most and all of our writers. Another bonus is that you can write for more than one section, I totally enjoy that.

It is interesting that some of these top posts went crazy on StumbleUpon (Fundamental Habit of the Super Fit and Life Lessons from Forrest Gump) - there is no predicting what will hit it big or not but we just aim for great content. Keep doing your thing Jeremy! Love having you in the 12 Most Community!

@PegFitzpatrick@jpJeremy I was drawn to 12most because of the variety. The fact that the site welcomes writers of all levels and all topics. I agree with Peg and Paul's insights.

@jpJeremy Jeremy, I think you are one of the best new additions to 12 Most and our regular contributors. I love your smart, semi-snarky voice that is full of good humor, always honest and speaks from the heart. You have nothing to worry about, my friend. :-)@susansilver @PegFitzpatrick @guykawasaki

I am not complaining, not at all. Personally, it is nice to visit a community each day that is a bit unpredictable. (beats the usual marketing and political blogs I visit)

Also, I didn't intend to sound bitter toward the writers that have an established reputation and following. If I could write like @guykawasaki , I would. It is probable that I would be less humble about success, too.

I don't know of any posts that have missed the mark @PaulBiedermann , but I will admit that I have not read everything that has been published here. (Who could?!)

I am having a blast writing with 12most, and y'all make it easy to give my time.

Being a marketing strategy guy, though, I couldn't help but try to analyze the top posts for a common thread. I couldn't find one, but then, I was relieved that I couldn't.

@jpJeremy Ah, but isn’t variety the spice of life? We think it’s nice to have posts that dig deeper and others that are just plain fun.

We figure that the people who visit this site are savvy, hardworking business people who are just as interested in what restaurant they take a client to as they are about what marketing tactic to use on their next campaign. They are just as passionate about health and parenting as they are about what makes a great website. More of our thoughts on this can be found on the “What is 12 Most” page on this site (http://12most.com/What-is-12-most/).

Sure, sometimes we’ve missed the mark, and we are also surprised sometimes by which posts get the most traffic (human nature has a way of being quite random). But we always strive for helpful takeaways of some sort in these posts, be it work or pleasure.

I've been trying to get some comments in, and now here are 12 incredible posts I can read in one fell swoop. I am especially interested in seeing the social media job titles and the enchanting features of Google+ that I am currently clueless about. :-)

@amberrisme I have a seriously kickin' Google+ post coming out that adds some more tidbits (how-to's) to Guy's post. You should load those Google+ Chrome extensions - they rock!

They're all great posts about great topics. Kudos to such an excellent team of writers!

Lot of Lifestyle posts in here...which is a nice digression for many of us that write on more narrow topics elsewhere.

@dbvickery That’s been an interesting discovery here — while we all crave the awesome information packed into so many of these posts, we all live pretty intense personal lives too. I do think the success of Lifestyle is a fun diversion, but also a by product of the passion we have for things outside of our business lives such as good food, travel, fitness and our families.

@samfiorella I’m glad you liked yours the best, Sam. So did a lot of us! :-) If you add up Angela’s 3 posts that made this list however, she had a total of 27,348 page views. Not too bad!

@PaulBiedermann Well I wouldn't be much of a marketer if I didn't like mine best would I? (secretly, I like Angela's better). Shhhh!

With the diversity of content I can understand why the people's choice was different from top views. One is community oriented and the other is focused on the causal passerby. I am actually shocked that the post that was tweeted by Alyssa Milano did not make the cut for top views. That was pretty epic.

@susansilver Great points, Susan! And yes, Nischala’s post on the 12 Most Wonderful Moments in the First Year of Motherhood certainly garnered lots of attention after Alyssa Milano retweeted it (a new mother herself).

Interesting to see what stimulates people and what they value reading. Thanks for the recap.

@prosperitygal It is, and just as interesting to see what different types of metrics say about the same basic question. Congrats on making the list, Michele!
