12 Most Salient Sales Blogs

12 Most Salient Sales Blogs

Sales is a dynamic subject in our society. People who understand business typically abide by the philosophy, “Nothing happens until somebody sells something.” They understand the importance of selling to grow the economy. People outside of business, though, may be skeptical. Many have the stereotypical image of the greedy used car salesman and think that selling is merely the art of trickery.

At its heart, though, the sales profession is really about innovation, improvement, and value creation. There are an array of great books out there that you could read on sales, and I would not discount the value of them. But all you have to do is open up a web browser to see for yourself what successful selling really is. There are a plethora of resources available online, and all they cost you is your time. Here are what I believe to be the best sales blogs on the web…

1. The Sales Blog by Anthony Iannarino

Daily articles on sales technique, attitudes, value creation, and personal development.

2. Edgy Conversations by Dan Waldschmidt

Inspiring posts on leadership, motivation, and injecting humanity into business.

3. Fearless Selling by Kelley Robertson

Great articles on sales techniques and answers to what to do in specific sales situations.

4. The Sales Hunter by Mark Hunter

Insightful posts on sales technique with emphasis on integrity and high-profit selling.

5. Partners in Excellence by David Brock

In-depth articles on high-level B2B selling and executive decision-making.

6. Sales Playbook by Paul Castain

Down-to-earth inspirational articles on sales techniques and attitudes with an emphasis on customer service.

7. Carousel Sales Blog by Cara Celli

Great personalized posts on sales behavior and customer service with an emphasis on the B2C environment.

8. Heinz on Marketing by Matt Heinz

In-depth posts on sales and marketing strategy with an emphasis on metrics.

9. A Sales Guy by Jim Keenan

Sharp writings on sales technique and value creation with an emphasis on metrics and making quota.

10. Score More Sales by Lori Richardson

Great articles on sales techniques, technology, and building relationships.

11. The Pipeline by Tibor Shanto

Insightful posts about value creation, the sales process, and sales techniques.

12. Fill the Funnel by Miles Austin

In-depth articles about technology and web tools for salespeople.

If you’ve clicked around these blogs, you may be thinking a little differently about the sales profession. Maybe it’s not as bad as you thought. Pretty inspiring stuff, huh? Salespeople, like anyone else, are just people trying to make a living and make a difference at the same time.

Are you a business person? Do you read a lot of business blogs? What’s your favorite sales blog that you’ve come across. Can I get a “Number 13?”

Thanks Doug. I have read and recognize most of them. They are surely sales superstars in their own right. I have had the good fortune to get to know Paul Castain, Tibor Shanto, Kelley Robertson, and Anthony Iannarino, to various degrees and they are as real and as genuine as they appear online.

Cheers,Marc

@newdaynewlesson One of my favs! But, despite the awesome name, I would classify it as more of a content marketing or small business blog. Great suggestion nonetheless. Thanks for the comment!

Doug, thank you for including the Score More Sales blog in your list. I like your list and there are still another 12 more I like to read, in addition to blogs about communication skills, human nature, and time / self management. I'd be remiss not to mention Jill Konrath's blog, going strong for many years, Inside Sales Experts blog by the Bridge Group Inc., Sales Benchmark Index, as well as Jonathan Farrington's blog, TheJFBlogIT.

@scoremoresales I agree! You've mentioned some great blogs that have had amazing longevity. I wanted to point out the lesser known but still awesome! I could easily collect a list of 100 great sales blogs!

Thanks Doug for including Fill the Funnel in your list. Each of those listed above is in my newsfeed that arrives in my email box each morning. As I begin my day, there are usually challenges/opportunities that are on my mind, and inevitably one of the authors above will provide some nugget or idea within their post that will help me to achieve the desired outcome.

@milesaustin Indeed it was hard to pick just 12, but I tried to select a group in which each has a distinctive approach. Your emphasis on technology for sales is a must-read. Love it!
